Event Description

Otter Creek Trail Marathon, 16 mile, and 8 mile are wonderful runs in Otter Creek Park.  The park is beautiful!  We will be camping the night before.  This year there are cabins that are heated.  The cabins are at the start /finish of the races, each have 16 bunk beds so bring your friends and spend some time in the woods.  We will cook out the night before and have warm chili and soup after the runs.  The medals are wooden and made by high school kids.  There are prizes given for top three in each race.  Long sleeve shirts to all.  Ken Combs Running Store is our sponsor.  Any questions call 502 220-3440.

The races are all o the Otter Creek trail.  This is a single track trail that is slightly over 8 miles.  The marathon will  will do 3 loops.  The 16 miler 2 loops and the 8 miler 1 loop.  This is a wonderful trail to begin on.  It is fun to run on without much climb.  One day in the beginning of Dec.  I will have a training day and you are welcome to join.

Awards will be given to the top three males and females overall. Age group awards will also be given out.

Lame Duck Try-athlon

August 2, 2014

Annually hosted by residents of Mallard Point, the Lame Duck Try-Athlon began in 1999 in the spirit of enjoying the neighborhood's lakes, hills, food and friendships. Though actual distance is shorter than typical triathlons, athletes have called it the most challenging event to participate in of the season.

Headfirst Performance was asked to assist in the management of the Lame Duck Try-athlon in 2014, but the neighborhood and community are still the driving force behind this event. We would like to thank the Mallard Point Homeowners Association for their support and aid in making this such a memorable event year after year.

Lame Duck Is A:

  • USAT-Sanctioned Triathlon
  • .54 mile open water point-to-point swim (16 laps in olympic size pool is the equivalent of a 1/2 mile)
  • 9.1 mile bike
  • 2.6 mile run
